*Day 5 - 12 hour travellers*

Ale and myself aboard a Tuk-Tuk and looking like we've been travelling for 12 hours..

6.30 am

The alarm rang for almost 2 minutes before it woke any of us up. The long days we’ve been having is beginning to take more out of us that what we expected. Even young bodies can’t recover without enough rest.

7.40 am

We arrived at the travel agents’ shop to await the arrival of our bus that would take us on a 12 hour journey all the way to Seam Reap. For only USD22.00, the bus was surprisingly comfortable and even had its own toilet in it. Thankfully for us I guess since it was going to be one hell of a long journey.

1.45 pm

We arrived in Phnom Phen and after a slight confusion at the travel agents’ shop; we managed to get on the correct bus for our next half of the journey to Seam Reap. Our hopes of getting some food along the way looks bleak as the stops that were taken didn’t have any halal restaurants. Our remaining 6 hours of the journey begins in earnest.

7.15 pm

After our almost 12 hour journey, we finally arrived in the city of Seam Reap. The town is of course famous for everyone wanting to pay (literally) a visit to the wonder that is Angkor Watt. As always, our arrival was greeted by the usual rush of the Tuk-Tuk operators looking for customers.

We found a guy who spoke good Bahasa. Robri had been studying in Sg. Bakap in Perak before returning about 3 months ago. Sadly despite the common language and even religion, we would later find out that his honestly has still much to be desired.

9.00 pm

We were led around town for 30 minutes going to hotels which were out of our budget range. It’s normal for the Tuk-Tuk operators to do this as they would earn commissions for bringing in customers. You have been warned.

After being asked to drop us at the center of the town, we walked around a bit and found a guesthouse that matched our budget. After checking in, we walked around the town and found an Indian restaurant for our food. Again dinner was our first proper meal of the day so we indulged in our food irregardless of its taste.

10.45 pm

We finished our dinner and we found our first loaf of bread since our trip began 4 days ago. We had never anticipated how difficult it was for us to buy a loaf of bread. While we were hanging out at one of the many travel agents cum internet café cum international phone call shops, we bumped into a group of fellow Malaysian travelers.

The 4 Chinese girls were actually working a stone throws away from the office in Wisma Lim Foo Yong on Jalan Raja Chulan. A stone throws away from our office in KL. Amazing that we would bumped into people at such a place, it’s a small world indeed.

We then proceeded for some drinks and chilled till late before retiring to the guesthouse.

Cheers!!! :D

ps>> To Farina who commented on my last post, yes we're talking about the same guy....
